Big Brother’s Reggie: “I’m Going Blind”
Posted by admin at 2:10 PM on August 5, 2008

Tragic news for Big Brother winner and former fish n’ chip shop owner Regina Sorensen (nee Bird). The mother of Mia, 16 months, has revealed to Woman’s Day that she has a degenerative eye condition.
“I will go blind. I was devastated and so upset. I knew it was there, but now that it has gotten really bad… it has just really hit me,” she said.
Reggie found out three weeks ago that she was suffering from retinitis pigmentosa. She has now been declared legally blind and her eyesight is deteriorating rapidly. She told the magazine that her greatest fear was not being able to watch her 16-month-old daughter Mia grow up.
Very sad news.

Hi Clare,
Unfortunately I don’t have the contact details for Reggie, here is a clinic I found in the US which treats this condition: http://www.stemcellpharmainc.com/. Good luck.
Hey I was diagnosed when I was 21 it was devastation I was told I couldnt have children a blow out for me I so much wanted them.
Im now 33 years and have a daughter 8 and 1/2 years and a son 6 and is wanting to have another which hopefully come true.
Im saying that things can be done and the most support you can get is most helpful.
Life has changed for me I now have a guide dog of 6 mnths which has does wonders.
I know it sucks to have this condition on top I have an hearing impairment which is called Ushers Syndrome combined with RP.
I hope you may have some contact as I am a mother whos also struggle with everyday life and most certainly heaps of frustration!!!!
