Apparently the Kate Hudson/Lance Armstrong split came about because Lance couldn't handle the way their relationship was going too fast, too soon and because Kate was "just too needy," this according to an associate at Lance's LiveStrong foundation.
The source adds, that, Armstrong felt that Hudson came on "too strong, too fast. Kate was way too desperate, a woman who clearly can't be on her own without a man in her life at all times."
Lance was also turned off by how their dates turned into "family outings" with Kate's son Ryder (dad is Chris Robinson), 4. Lance wanted to take things slow – maybe it would become more serious later on, but for him, it was all too quick.
The insider also tells Chicago Sun-Times, that Lance's relationship with ex Sheryl Crow was successful (they dated for 3 years) because "Sheryl's one very independent woman. Lance liked that."
Maybe this "source" is right – we often see Kate jump from one relationship into the next without a moment's hesitation.
Poor Ryder – it must be slightly confusing for the kid!
