Grieving Mother Donates 300 Litres of Breastmilk

Australian Post Posted by Amber Robinson at 4:04 PM on August 7, 2008

A grieving US mother turned the loss of one of her premature twins into an opportunity to help hundreds of other babies.

Kelley Durant gave birth three-and-a-half months early to twins Cameron and Ressa. Unfortunately the female twin, Ressa, died of an infection just three weeks later.

In an act of incredible kindness and dedication, Durant continued to pump her breastmilk for the next 17 months and recently made her last final donation to the Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas. In total, Durant donated 100 gallons (350 litres) in her daughter’s name.

Someone hand this mother a medal, stat.
