How to Raise An Organic Baby

There's a lot of organic baby stuff out there, and there's also a book on how to have/raise/purchase for an organic baby. Thankfully, Organic Baby: Simple Steps for Healthy Living (US$16.47) doesn't name-check or name-drop any specific brands (although you'll recognise some brands in the photos if you know your baby products). Instead, it offers practical advice for first-time moms who are new to the whole idea of organic consumer products. And it's not too hard-line, while it recommends organic mattresses, it does offer this consolation, "We all should buy the best we can and do our part to protect the environment, but if you decide a natural mattress is out of your price range, you need not feel you've failed to protect your child from an avoidable harm." Whew! It is a basic primer, so if you already know what off-gassing means and the dangers of PVC toys, then this book isn't for you. But if you're not sure which stuffed animal stuffings could be harmful, then consider Organic Baby a great primer–and a good gift for a mom-to-be.
