Good morning,
I am writing for some advise for my neice. She is 6 years old and has decised that she does not want to go to school. When her mum takes her she screams and hits and kicks the teachers. It has got to the stage that the teachers have to hold her down so her mum can leave. They have tried everything. She has an 8 year old sister and a couple of days ago she was caught with her bedroom window open and she was going to leave. We are not sure what to do, nothing seems to be working. It takes her mum 10 minutes to get out of the school grounds and they are all late for school almost everyday now, which is upsetting her older sister because she loves school. Once her mum has left she is ok. Should she stay until she calms down or just walk away. The teachers have had to chase her a couple of times after she has run away looking for her mum. She is a very strong willed little girl. Thankyou for your time. Jodee

Fantastic advice! As a special needs teacher working one to one I see it every day. Parents don't want to be the bad guy and wonder why their child is unhappy/out of control. By contrast, the parents who aren't afraid to be in control are easy to work with and achieve faster results with their children.
