Mum Fills Baby’s Bottle With Wine

Posted by Asflutz at 8:00 AM on August 24, 2008

Here's some advice for 40-year-old Kathryn Bowen, from Missouri, who was arrested at the Kentucky State Fair after she was spotting pouring wine straight into her 11-month-old's bottle in an effort to get her daughter to sleep:  next time, try cough syrup.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding.  Of course I would never endorse drugging a baby to sleep.  But the stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.  I mean, this woman bought wine at the Fair, then – in sight of a police officer – filled her daughter's bottle with it.  She didn't even duck into the restroom or make the slightest effort to hide what she was doing. Is it possible that she wasn't aware that her action was completely illegal?

Bowen has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, and her baby is in protective custody.
