Leona Lewis Wants to Adopt

Leona Lewis, 23-year-old British pop sensation and winner of "The X Factor," went to South Africa earlier this year with one thing in mind: kids. She wants to adopt.
"I wanted to take home all the kids," she says. "They were so cut e. All of them had been orphaned because of HIV and it was heart-rending. There are so many who need help – both here and abroad – you just don't know where to start."
Leona says that her upbringing makes her an ideal candidate for motherhood. The singer, who performed at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics' closing ceremonies, talks about her parents. "My mum was a social worker and my dad was a youth offender officer, so I know that there are a lot of kids out there that need to be fostered and adopted. I definitely want to adopt."
For now, though, she's about to embark on a world tour and talks about how she'll miss her childhood sweetheart, Lou Al-Chama. "I miss him so much every time we're apart because he is also my very best friend," she says. "I write little letters to him, and he makes me a CD of different songs I can listen to. He's lovely."
