Behind the Scene Photos Of the Obamas On Election Night

On election night, during the McCain concession speech, I kept thinking about what the Obama family might be doing during this historic moment. Were they popping open bottles of vintage Dom and pouring them over Obama’s head ? Were the girls dancing on tabletops? Was the entire family, friends and staff partying not like 1999? Nope. They did none of that. The Obama’s along with close friends, family with a visit by Joe Biden, calmly watched the TV with sedate concentration.
David Katz, Obama’s longtime photographer, captured the behind the scenes moments of Obama and his family in an intimate portrait of one of the most historic evening in recent history. Instead of distributing the photos through a glossy magazine, or main stream news site, they opted to release the photos via Flickr. There are 82 photos in the album that you can check out. They are touching, lovely and give a down to earth view of this important night. But be warned, Flickr seems to be overwhelmed with people attempting to view the photos, so you may have to enlist some Obama like calm in waiting to view them all. Click here to see them all.
