The Expectant Knitter: More than a Knitting Book
Posted by Elizabeth Leach at 10:15 AM on November 14, 2008
The Expectant Knitter is much more than a knitting book, but also a warm, funny, and informative pregnancy guide. Projects are tailored for each trimester with simpler ones for the first (when it seems unlikely that I'd have the energy to lift a knitting needle) and the third (when my fingers were swollen) and more complex ones for that glorious second trimester.
The first few projects are dedicated to that wonderful time before you're even pregnant when you're dreaming and hoping and there's even a section for parents who are adopting. The knitting projects are exactly what I want to find in a knitting book. Learn to knit a swaddling blanket, pinwheel quilt, first party dress, alphabet blocks, socks, leg-warmers, among many others.
If you only have the energy and time to read a couple books during pregnancy this book can actually serve as a health guide and weekly planner for each trimester, too. The author shares helpful information regarding doctor’s visits, morning sickness and even swaddling techniques.
