Being Muslim myself, I had the same problem. I justified not celebrating Xmas because the evidence that Isa (or Jesus) was born on that day is non-existent, so there's nothing really to celebrate, apart from the winter solstice.

My children don't really care anymore, since the get heaps of presents on Eid-ul-Fitr, some on Eid-ul-Adha, and more on Awal muharam and othe Muslim celebrations. The presents on Eid-ul-Fitr always mean more as they've fasted (or tried to).

I love the last line of your post. And this is the reason why, I an atheist, make it a point to celebrate any and EVERY festival I hear of. And listen to music, religious or otherwise. It just cheers the heart. I am so glad that there are so many more balanced, people like you.

I do not think having a Christmas tree is betraying your faith or having Santa Claus it they are pagan advents so they would not do your child any harm,if you send him to a christian school thats what you have to expect I gather there are no Muslims schools near to you which is a pity. But I think all childrens values come from home do not worry about it, the thing is children have a difficult time at school at the best of time and when they are that bit different (religion) it makes it a bit worse.

I am an Irish grandmother and my mother brought us up to love everyone (hard at times) but I am gratful to her as I respect everyones religion.

I do hope it works out well for you and your child.

Sincerly
