Most dolls do a whole lotta nothing. They just sit there and look pretty. This doll, that is an exclusive to A Toy Garden, ain’t just cute but gives birth complete with placenta, and she nurses too. This Waldorfian handmade plush doll comes from Brazil where it is used to teach girls about natural childbirth.
“When it is time, our Birthing Doll can have her cotton undies pulled down and she can give birth to a small cotton/wool baby doll. As the baby is born, it has an umbilial cord attached to a red felt circle symbolic of the placenta. The cord can be unsnapped from the baby’s stomach and then put back into mama for safe storage. Baby has a snap on its mouth and can be gently placed (snapped) onto mummy’s breasts to breastfeed. Mummy’s breasts each have a snap for secure latching on. Mummy’s dress snaps open in the front and can be mostly snapped up for discrete feeding. Baby can be carefully placed back into mummy (feet first) for another birth experience.”
Whether you want to educate you children on the wonders of childbirth or if you’re just a big fan of the process, this doll is for you. You can pick one up here for $US89.95.
