Heather Ledger Wins Golden Globe

The late Heath Ledger has won a posthumous “best supporting actor”Golden Globe award for his role as The Joker in the Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight. The award comes almost a year after his accidental death on January 22 in his New York apartment.

Chris Nolan, the movie’s director, accepted the award on behalf of Heath, as the audience stood and applauded.

Said Nolan, “All of us who worked with Heath on The Dark Night accept this with an awful mixture of sadness, but incredible pride.

“For any of us to enjoy his performance he will be eternally missed, but he’ll never be forgotten.”

Chris said Ledger was chosen for his ability to take on edgy roles.

“For the role of The Joker I was looking for fearlessness. I needed a phenomenal actor, but he (Ledger) also had to be someone unafraid of taking on such an iconic role.

“Heath created something entirely original. It’s stunning, it’s captivating,” Nolan said.

What a legacy Heath leaves behind for his daughter Matilda Rose. I’m sure mum Michelle Williams will make sure that their daughter learns what a wonderful actor he was but more importantly, what a wonderful, doting father he was.
