Heath’s Family Remembers Him, Gives Praise To Michelle Williams

Heath Ledger’s family gathered at Cottesloe Beach in Australia – it was a favorite place of the late actor – to remember him on the one year anniversary of his death and acknowledge his recent Oscar nomination for his portrayal of the villainous Joker in The Dark Knight.
Ledger’s older sister Kate said, “We are still nursing broken hearts. Like anyone who loses a family member, it has opened our eyes to the intense suffering and painful journey that is death.”
Kate, along with Heath’s two half-sisters – Ashleigh Bell and Olivia Ledger -father Kim Ledgerand mum Sally Bell, all gathered at the Indiana Tea Room on Cottesloe Beach.
Kate added that they appreciate the great job that Michelle Williams is doing in raising Heath’s daughter, Matilda Rose, 3.
“Michelle is doing an amazing job with ‘our girl’ and together we will cherish every moment of her steps through life.”
Younger sister Ashleigh acknowledged Heath’s Oscar nod, saying, “in Heath’s words, he had ‘the time of his life.’”
“Although we would love to have him here with us, we are so proud and so excited on his behalf. We will take this opportunity today to honor his wonderful life and take comfort in knowing Heath will continue to touch future generations through this amazing art form.
“What an unbelievable legacy he has left for Matilda and our family,” she added.
Heath’s parents declined comment to the media.
The family, later, enjoyed a commemorative lunch.
January 22 marked the one year anniversary of Heath’s accidental overdose in his NY apartment.
