Usher’s Wife: Lied To Doctors & Her Husband

Posted by Sassy Smith at 9:15 AM on February 25, 2009

I’m all for women who want to look their best and if that means a little nip-tuck, so be it. However, I have to wonder what kind of mother would put her life in danger to have a flat stomach? Would Usher’s wife, Tameka Foster, be so desperate to get back to her pre-baby body just two months after giving birth to her fifth son, that she would risk death?

Foster, who gave birth to her fifth son (second with Usher), on December 10, was apparently anxious to have a flat tummy, and flew to Brazil to have plastic surgery. She didn’t bother (reportedly)to tell her husband and lied to doctors, telling them she had given birth four months ago, not two.

What a price she paid! Tameka suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest before the surgery, and was then put in a coma to stablize her condition. Usher, who was preparing for the Annual Pre-Grammy party, canceled his appearance, andflew to be by his wife’s side. It’s believed that neurosurgeon Dr. Gabriel Hunt of Cedars-Sinai Clinic accompanied Usher, to look into what happened.

Tameka has since been released from the hospital and is doing well. Usher has not made any public comment to date, other than having his rep release a statement, asking the public for privacy during their difficult time.

From Softpedia.com:

The President of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, Jose Tariki, apparently told the New York Daily News that Tameka lied to the doctors by telling them she had had a baby four months before coming for surgery, when in fact, only two had passed. “After a pregnancy, the abdomen muscle is violently stretched, becomes flaccid and swells. The patient needs six to eight months to return to normal and only then can undergo surgery.” Tariki explained.

Tameka is one lucky woman, that she pulled through this. It could have ended in tragedy, and five boys would be without a mother. Sure, what woman doesn’t want a nice, flat tummy after she’s had a baby, but honestly, that can wait! A flat stomach is not worth dying for.
