Bristol Gives Levi The Boot

The most watched teen romance of 2008 had few convinced that it would last forever. Still, when Levi Johnston showed up at the Republican National Convention but hours after news broke that he and the VP nominee’s daughter were expecting, there was a feeling, at least, that Mama Palin would control their message then and until the end of time.

But someone else has taken over the message now, namely Levi Johnston’s sister, Mercede. She tells Star Magazine that 18-year-old Bristol broke off the young couple’s engagement a while ago. And also that she’s now not allowing Levi to see their infant son, Tripp.

This contradicts what Bristol told FOX’s Gretta Van Susteren, specifically that Levi was a hands-on father and that the two planned to marry after finishing their educations.

Mercede said the two split up more than a month ago and that Bristol has dropped out of school. Also, the sister reports Bristol won’t let Levi see the baby, that she says some pretty harsh things about Levi and the Johnston family, and that she treats Levi badly.

So. Bristol’s her own woman, but we can’t help but wonder what Sarah’s going to do or say about all this. But she’s got her own problems with the state of Alaska to deal with.

I hope it’s not true that Levi’s not being allowed to see their son. That’s just mean — to Johnston and to the baby. Still, don’t you feel just a little big sisterly toward Bristol?
