Liam Neeson, who lost his beloved wife, and mother of his children, Natasha Richardson, is said to be “inconsolable” after a tragic skiing accident fall and head injury took her life.
Bernadette Sexton, Neeson’s sister, said, “We’re completely bewildered and wish we could turn the clock back. I’ve spoken to Liam but I’d rather not talk about it, it’s too personal.” She did say Liam was “inconsolable.”
Sexton added, “Natasha was a wonderful friend, sister-in-law and auntie to my kids. She was just a warm, generous and lovely woman.”
Richard’s family paid tribute to her Thursday night as the lights on Broadway were dimmed in her honor. The family gathered for her wake on Friday and her funeral was Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in Millbrook, NY. Natasha died on Wednesday, March 18 of an epidural haematoma.
On Tuesday, the evening before the accident, Vanessa Redgrave, Natasha’s mom, mentioned to friends she didn’t understand why her daughter had even gone skiing – she did not enjoy it.
Loretta Brennan Glucksman, chairman of the American Ireland Fund, spoke with Vanessa and she had mentioned the trip.
“Vanessa was saying, ‘Natasha is off skiing, I don’t understand,” said Glucksman. “She doesn’t even like to ski.’ That came back when I started hearing all this. Vanessa is devastated. It’s a tragedy which is beyond belief.”
