Emma Thompson – My Daughter Is Just Fine Right Here, Thanks

Posted by Trix at 6:15 AM on March 31, 2009

Emma Thompson will never send her daughter to boarding school, in fact she says that it’s a terrible, horrible thing to do to your children.

She gave the example of the English upper classes and their practice of sending off their very young children to boarding and said it was appalling. She grew up with her parents with the help of au pairs and will do the same with her daughter. She loved the fact that her parents were always around when she was little and strives to give the same feeling to her daughter, Gaia.

Her daughter is nine and Emma feels that, because she is home with her daughter, Gaia knows who she is and is very comfortable with who she is becoming.

That’s fantastic, I was reading somewhere that society is getting back to parent led households rather than child led. Thank goodness, I don’t know if I could handle another generation of spoiled kids waiting on me in the grocery store or at my local restaurant.
