How Much Sex Ed Is Too Much?

Australian Post Posted by Amber Robinson at 3:09 PM on April 9, 2009

hormone_factoryA new teen sex-ed website has drawn the ire of parents who claim it is inappopriate and even dangerous. The website, TheHormoneFactory.com, uses cartoons to tell junior high school students about hormones, contraception and termination.

While some of the information may be considered controversial, like discussions about penis size and the suggestion that abortion can be a  ‘relief’, there is plenty of useful info too.
For example, the site tells children that masturbation is normal, that sex should be consensual, that adults should never behave sexually with them and that the only way to truly avoid getting pregnant is to abstain from sex.

Is this too much information for 12-year-olds? How should we tackle the growing teen pregnancy rate?
