Kansas Abortion Doctor Killed At Church

Kansas abortion doctor George Tiller was shot and killed today while attending church.Sad news from Kansas — Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed while ushering at church. A suspect is in custody.

From Huffington Post:

WICHITA, Kansas — Dr. George Tiller, a Kansas doctor whose clinic received national attention for performing late-term abortions, was shot to death as he entered his Wichita church on Sunday.
Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortion, making him a favored target of anti-abortion protesters. He testified that he and his family have suffered years of harassment and threats. His clinic was the site of the 1991 “Summer of Mercy” protests marked by mass demonstrations and arrests. His clinic was bombed in 1985, and an abortion opponent shot him in both arms in 1993.

Anti-abortion group Operation Rescue was no fan of Dr. Tiller; there is a “Tiller Watch” page on their web site. The group has issued a statement condemning the murder.

Tiller was recently tried for “allegedly consulting a second physician in late-term abortion cases who was not truly ‘independent’ as required by Kansas state law.” It was a big deal case, with both sides tossing out big deal rhetoric. “Columnist Jack Cashill compared the trial to the Nuremberg Trials of Nazi war criminals, while NYU Professor Jacob Appel described Tiller as ‘a genuine hero who ranks alongside Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr. in the pantheon of defenders of human liberty.’” (Source for both quotes: Wikipedia)

This is an ugly end to an ugly story. Hopefully the police have the right person and they will be punished. That won’t bring anyone back to life, of course. No matter what side of the abortion debate you are on, I hope you agree that shooting someone in cold blood is a horrible thing to do.

Um…why was he at Church?? I can understand him being at church if he had done a late-term abortion a couple of times then felt awful and repented for what he did. Doesn’t God say, “Do not Murder?” He was constantly taking the lives of innocent babies and had the audacity to step inside a church. Yeah, it’s sad that he got killed, but I guess what goes around comes around. He had a lot of “warnings” before he was murdered..maybe he should have stopped a long time ago. I feel bad for his family, I can’t say I feel bad for him.

  • Ivory says:

In response to Kristin. Are you God? You don’t have a right to judge either. I do not beleive in abortions either but you make it seem as if he somehow deserved to die the way he did. Warnings? I wouldn’t be suprised to find if you are involved in one of those radical loonie groups that justifys blowing up a building with innocent people to saving a unborn childs’s life. How do you decide if your pro-life or pro-choice . I am both I’m for life and the right to choose. So before you post something insensitive as that I would think harder.

  • Tynisha says:

God also said not to judge… You’re a sinner too, so should you get shot as well? Sin is equal, he was a human like anyone else. What makes you so good that you can say you don’t feel bad for him? I don’t know what kind of stupidity you do on a daily basis but I hope nobody shoots you because of it.

  • Kelly says:

I’m glad he’s dead, very very glad. Those who think it’s a shame, well you’re a shame. Abortion is murder and he reaped what he sowed.

  • Keegan says:

I dont get the big deal was, the gun man just performed a “late term abortion” I crack myself up

    • Amber Robinson says:

Do people realise that most late-term abortions are carried out because the foetus is suffering from a severe abnormality incompatible with life? Would you wnat to go through with the pregnancy in that situation?

Even if you believe that abortion is murder, an eye for an eye does not make things right.

  • bjw says:

We should not judge because we do not know anothers person heart, but God gave us His word , the bible so we can discern good & bad, & when a person rips an infant from the womb of a mother, that is evil. And when evil goes to church, that is a ravenous wolf in sheeps clothing. Read your bible childern, do not be deceived, the devil is here to kill, steal & destroy you.
