Cameron Diaz on Being Childless by Choice

Australian Post Posted by Amber Robinson at 4:03 PM on June 11, 2009

Cameron Diaz says women are afraid to admit they do not want children in case they are “shunned” by society.

The actress is 36, childless and single since recently breaking up with her boyfriend of two years, model Paul Sculfor.

Cameron told UK Cosmopolitan magazine,

‘I think women are afraid to say that they don’t want children because they’re going to get shunned.

‘But I think that’s changing too now. I have more girlfriends who don’t have kids than those that do.

‘And honestly? We don’t need any more kids. We have plenty of people on this planet.’

On whether she wants children of her own, Diaz said: ‘I never say never. I don’t know what’s going to happen.

‘I could end up adopting half a dozen kids, or I could end up being the next “octomum”.’

I’ve always liked Cameron’s easygoing attitude and honest approach in interviews. I hope she has the life she wants, whether there are children in it or not.

Motherhood is a precious gift. Maternal instinct is also gift that not all women get. It is better not to have children if you really dont want them. I have been blessed with beautiful babies that I cherish but had I choosen not to that would be MY choice and not for others to judge. Eveyone looks at life differently. Isn’t that a great thing?
