In an amazing survival story, rescuers have found a five-year-old child alive among the wreckage of a Yemenia Airbus A310-300 plane that crashed off the Comoros Islands earlier today.
There are no signs of any other survivors among the 153 people on board and the airline has confirmed that at least five bodies have also been recovered from debris floating in the water.
The child has been taken to shore and officials are yet to confirm the child’s sex or nationality.
As investigations continue in to the crash it has been revealed that faults in the aircraft were found during a routine EU inspection in 2007 and the airline was being closely monitored by EU authorities.
This is the second time in less than a month that an Airbus has crashed into the ocean during poor weather conditions. Are you confident to fly on an Airbus any time soon?
