Jack’s Still Number One: Find Out the Most Popular Girl’s Name

Jack has scooped the pool once again. For the last five years, Jack has remained the number one Australian boy baby name.
Mia has topped the girl’s list, it has been popular ever since Bec and Lleyton Hewitt gave their baby girl the name three and a half years ago.

Here is the official 2008 Australian baby name top 10.
Boys: Jack, William, Lachlan, Joshua, Riley, Thomas, Cooper, Oliver, James and Ethan.
Girls: Mia, Chloe, Isabella, Charlotte, Emily, Ella, Olivia, Sienna, Ava and Sophie.
reckons that our generation have gone square.
“Now that Generation X are parents, they’re showing their conservative side,” says social researcher Mark McCrindle.
“Today’s parents are avoiding gender neutral names … yet there is a creativity in their conservatism with the traditional names sharing the top 10.”
I don’t know… think there are just as many people choosing unique names (Apple, anyone?), but due to their uniqueness they’re not making the top 10.
