Zuitube: YouTube For Kids

Because kids are internet-mad from an early age (two, apparently), KidZui, a US company, has isolated a gap in the potentially mega-lucrative market and come up with a YouTube for kids – ZuiTube.
Created by web-company Kidzui, ZuiTube features over 60,000 kid-friendly videos that have been selected by a panel of 200 American parents and teachers. With content ranging from the educational to sports, animals and comedy, Zuitube gives young internet trawlers the chance to create their own channels using kiddy tailored search suggestions and tagging.
Kidzui CEO, Cliff Boro, explains;
The goal is to be both educational and entertaining. So KidZui has mapped out 8,600 channels of what kids are interested in, ranging from photosynthesis to Miley Cyrus. And we relate all of those categories to each other so kids can independently and safely browse, search and share.
But why a video hosting service? Well let’s face it, kids are drawn to videos and, as we’ve all probably witnessed, the content on YouTube is generally not created with younger eyeballs in mind. As Boro points out;
There’s so much great content on YouTube for kids, but there’s so much horrendous content that’s completely inappropriate. So our goal with ZuiTube is to give kids the best of what YouTube has to offer without parents running and screaming because there’s just so much bad stuff as well.
So, while the name could do with some tweaking, the service itself sounds like a nifty little setup. But what’s your take on ZuiTube? Does this sound like something for your kids?
I’ll have to check it out, as a mum it sounds great! We’ll see if the kids like it!
Sounds like a great idea.
