Did anyone else watch Kim Clijsters win the US Open yesterday? She won the title back in 2005 and then went away to have her cute little girl, Jada. So this time, Kim won the major Grand Slam tournament as a mum. A particularly fit mum, it has to be said – with no visible trace of a mummy tummy on her trim, taut and terrific physique.

But did it make you a bit teary watching Jada prance about on the court, posing for the photographers while her adoring mum looked on? It had all of us welling up here. And talk about inspirational! No, not the one point gazillion dollars in prize money she won (although, let’s face it, the promise of that would definitely get us out of bed in the mornings) – no, we mean the fact that Kim clawed her way back into her career when she’d had a fair bit of time off. And is now at the top of her game. Again!
Proof, if proof were needed, that if you can bring a new baby into the world, and manage to look after her, helping her to learn and grow, and NOT lose all your marbles in the process, you can do anything. Good on you, Kim!
