During her concert in Adelaide, Houston added the song “Who Would Imagine a King” from The Preacher’s Wife , which is her daughter’s favourite and not usually part of the lineup. Then Krissy was invited on stage and serenaded with “Happy Birthday” by mum and the entire audience – and of course presented a cake.

Houston is currently on her Nothing But Love tour, and has received some press scrutiny regarding disappointed fans and an unkempt appearance, suggesting her comeback tour is “a flop”.  Well, I’d pay to listen to the “I’m Every Woman” songstress regardless… Here’s hoping the next leg of the tour goes a bit smoother. She’s currently on tour in Australia and will wrap up with a concert in Adelaide on November 29.

According to a Britney insider: “Britney’s rule is clear zero tolerance. No drink. No drugs. If you do not comply, you do not tour with Britney.”

Apparently, the confidential contract bans crew members from using drugs and even alcohol for the duration of the tour.

That contract apparently covers all of Brit’s 277-member crew, including the 150 Australian staffers.

With Brit’s record, I guess she can’t take the chance of anyone inadvertently peer-pressuring her back to Crazytown. She has just recently gotten her sanity back and is working to get full custody rights of her kids, so I can understand some of the concern.

Still, banning alcohol? Even off-duty? Doesn’t that seem a little excessive?

I always assumed that Britney was drugged-out during her head-shaving days, but I never really know what her drug of choice was. K-Fed’s been known to enjoy a little reefer every now and then, did he have to sign the drug test contract? If not, does that mean he can’t come along?

Guess the staff will just have to abuse prescription drugs or something while the tour goes through the land down under.

Beyonce’s concert in Sydney was a smashing success, partly due to her singing to Chelsea. Chelsea is a little girl suffering from Leukaemia and Beyonce invited her up on stage to serenade her.

The Daily Telegraph reports school officials are concerned with the “sexual themes” in the books.

They do realise the characters in the first three books never actually have any sex, right?

Mormon writer Stephenie Meyer makes a point repeatedly of bringing up abstinence until marriage. And it’s only after main characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen wed in book four (Breaking Dawn) that they consummate the relationship.

So no sex, m’kay?

Next up: they want the kids to understand that it’s fiction.

Considering we’re not talk about four- and five-year-olds here, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that kids know vampires don’t exist. Except Count Chocula, natch (do they have crappy cereals in Australia too? Must ask friend who used to live there stat).

The school officials were also quoted by the Telegraph noting that the popularity of the movies is pushing the kids to read the books, and they’re not able to handle them. Having read them all and seen the movie, it’s the latter I’d keep from a tween because of the intensity of the violence in certain scenes. The movie was graphic. The book not so much. And what are you doing letting your kid watch a movie based on a book you wouldn’t let them read? Talk about putting the cart before the donkey.

I’m aware it’s fluff at best, so we don’t need to add Twilight to the curriculum anytime soon. But I’m going to fall back on the same old mantra: it’s up to the parents to determine whether their kid’s book choices are appropriate and discuss them with the kids.

Ban Twilight, and you just created a piece of forbidden fruit they’ll love to sink their teeth into.

Watson was on her yacht, Ella’s Pink Lady, taking a trial run for a planned solo sail around the world.  If she accomplishes it, she’ll be the youngest person to ever do so. But on Tuesday—while below deck writing on her blog—Watson crashed into a 63,000-tonne tanker.

Both boat and teen surprisingly suffered only minor injuries, and the incident hasn’t hurt Watson’s enthusiasm one bit. She told local reporters:

“The whole incident gives me confidence, wow, I can actually handle this. It could have happened to anyone. I’m unlucky I suppose, but you also learn from it,” she said.

Now keep in mind, I know nothing about sailing. I’m more of a pontoon girl myself. But hitting a 63,000-tonne tanker, to me, seems like driving a car and hitting a semi full of … well … other semis. Watson’s last blog post read like this:

“I better go and fire the radar up, turn the navigation lights on and have one last check of everything on deck before it gets dark.”

Oh, the irony. I’ve got great respect for Watson’s unbridled enthusiasm and confidence and for how she handled herself in a cool and collected manner after the accident.

But her collision does raise the question—exactly how does a parent decide whether to let their teen go extreme?  Laura Decker, 13, was recently denied her dream of a solo trip around the world by Dutch child protection authorities. She’s considering relocating to New Zealand, where there are no laws that would stop her from taking her trip.

Was this just a freak accident? Or was it an indication that more time and practice is needed? What’s your gut feeling?

Katie Holmes is busy filming her latest flick, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, here in Australia.  Along for the trip, is daughter Suri, 3, and during Katie’s down time, she gets to snuggle with her little girl.

Katie is said to be ready to add baby number two once she’s done working in Australia.

A source in Australia said she goes everywhere, high-end to low-end, it makes no difference. If it’s a store she’s going to be in it. The actress seems to be giving her stay in New York a run for its money. But, having reportedly spent $US14 million during her six months in the Big Apple, Katie may have a ways to go in Australia.

A source said Katie would love to have “another hit before she has a second baby.”  But Katie believes she doesn’t have to sacrifice her career for family.  She can have both.

Katie said, “I happen to be a woman who believes she can have it all.  We women can do an awful lot if we put our minds to it.”

“Not only that, we can have fun doing it!  Even when it’s crazy—which is pretty much most of the time—it’s fun.  At least, that’s been my experience.”

She adds, “It’s a good combination for me and Tom—work and family, a healthy balance.”

Katie is currently filming Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark in Australia.

So, maybe when the movie wraps, Katie and Tom will be making an announcement!
