Thiessen and husband, artist and actor Brady Smith, are thrilled to be pregnant. “We are over the moon!” the couple said in a joint statement. “It’s something we’ve wanted for a long time and we are thrilled that it’s actually happening.

Tiffani is currently working on USA’s White Collar drama series, and is looking forward to figuring out how to balance new motherhood with a busy career. “I’ve never done it – it’s going to be a whole new thing,” she said in May 2009, when she first talked to US mag People about the possibility of having kids.

The Saved By The Bell and Beverly Hills 90210 (the original) star is 35 and has been married since 2005. This will be the couple’s first child. Congratulations!

She talked about parenting during the round-table interview for her new movie, Motherhood.

What about parenting has thrown you?

Minnie: The unquantifiable love. It just takes my breath away. My son’s face in the morning … it feels like Christmas. It’s also terrifying though. You can’t really go there to think about the absence of that. Everyone tells you about the love but you can’t know it until you have it. It just blows your mind. Yeah…(happy sigh)…Henry.

How was it working on the movie while pregnant?

Minnie: Oh, it was horrible. Just awful. I really don’t recommend it. I was close to tears one evening on the phone with my mum whimpering “I just want to go home and iron onesies!” She laughed at me saying, “You’ll have plenty of time to do laundry, love. Don’t worry.”

Do you think you’ll have more kids?

Minnie: Oh! I really want to. I want to have them soon. I’m 39 and a part of me wishes I would have started 10 years ago but I know where I was then and there was no way. I’m expecting to have another baby at some point, but if I don’t it will be OK because I have my Henry.

What would you tell Henry if he said he wanted to be an actor?

Minnie: Good luck…and I’ll always cook for you when you’re totally broke. (laughs)

What do you think about the paparazzi photographing children?

Minnie: In England, we have pornography laws where you can’t take photos of children. There should absolutely be legislation like that in [the US]. The children get frightened. Henry burst into tears at the airport one time when the photographers were up in his face with flashing lightbulbs. There’s something very rabid about their energy because they don’t see you as a human being — all they see is what they can sell in the magazines. The editors have a responsibility that they’re not taking. They could choose not to publish endless photographs of these little babies on swings in parks on playdates. It’s gross. Those poor children have done nothing to deserve that except be born to famous parents. I haven’t gotten in trouble with those guys yet but God knows if they did ANYTHING to my kid…well, if you see me in jail, get all the mums together and come support me with a banner or something.

Should we be watching for a baby bump sometime soon? I definitely want to see her new film to see if it really portrays motherhood as it really is.

Wowza, Gwen Stefani looks just phenomenal.

As a 40-something mum she really knows how to glam it up. She attended the International Night of Stars in New York and wowed the crowd with the way she looked.

Gwen spends most of her time with her kids, but judging by these photos, she does take some time out for herself as well, every now and then. And she looks fantastic on it!

Halle Berry and her partner Gabriel Aubry have been together for nearly four years and are parents to 16-month-old daughter Nahla, but it’s doubtful that the 42-year-old, twice-divorced actress will ever walk down the aisle again.

Berry said,

“I’m much clearer about what a relationship is, which is why I will never marry again. Gabriel and I have a great partnership and a lovely daughter. But I once was stupid enough to say, in a previous relationship, ‘I’m going to be with this person forever,’ and realised, as I grew, that I don’t know if forever is possible. ”

“Gabriel and I don’t look at our relationship in terms of forever, we look at it as right here today. And today means being the best people we can be, the best parents we can be. It’s wonderful, but neither one of us feels the need to attach ourselves to each other for life – because it may not be that.”

Halle says that the birth of Nahla definitely changed her perspective and her focus is all about her little girl. The X-Men actress also adds she would love to have another child.

She told You magazine, “I’m certainly open to having another, so I hope so. Motherhood will always be my priority now, especially because I had a child for the first time at 41. My priority had been myself for a long, long time, but now it will always be Nahla. You think you know what love is – until you have a child and discover that unconditional mother love.”

Some sites even have the gall to comment if someone looks less than sylphlike when they first are out in public after giving birth. As if our responsibility right after having brought another human into the world is to make sure we’re pleasing to the eye, not keeping the baby and ourselves alive and trying to forge a new identity after the whole world has been rocked by the arrival of this new little person.

I thought this column, from The Age, was really good. Apparently some shots of Naomi Watts got out, taken right after she’d had her second child. They showed everything, including Watts’ C-section scar.

You know where this is going, right? Any of us should look so “awful” at any time, especially right after having had a child, and of course the writer’s friends ended up more depressed by hoping to see a new mum who maybe looked a bit more like themselves and instead ended up being just another reflection of the ridiculous standards women are supposed to meet.

She, and I, have this to say: Stop this RIGHT NOW, new mums of the world. You probably look great, certainly you look far better than you think you do, and if you don’t, well, you have a little seven-pound excuse right there in front of you.

Celebrities’ post-baby looks are absolutely deceiving. If you had a nanny for each child (Angelina), someone else to cook your meals, and (most importantly) a tummy tuck all lined up for moments after you gave birth, you’d look better than before too. If you’re a normal mum, give yourself credit or every day you can make it out of tracksuit pants those first few weeks – or at least locate and put on clean ones.

This is supposed to be funny, but honestly I think it’s damaging. It hurts regular-person new mums who, along with all the other pressures of motherhood, have these unattainable images shoved in their faces and are made to feel they must meet them or be an object of ridicule, at an already emotionally vulnerable time in their lives.

It hurts the celebrities who are putting themselves and their babies at risk by putting all their focus on losing the weight fast so they can look good for the paparazzi instead of, I don’t know, bonding with their baby?

And it’s bad for us, as a society, because it totally skews our idea of what monumental change motherhood makes in a woman —and that’s a change that goes a lot further than skin deep.

Who started the trend of celebrities posing nude on magazine covers? Demi Moore! Yep, she started the naked cover trend in August of 1991 on Vanity Fair's cover – posing while heavily preggers. She posed again a year later for the same magazine,and then again on Rolling Stone's February 1995 cover. Since then, many celebmums (including Angelina Jolie post-Shiloh, seen above) have taken it all off – or mostly all off and shown us their famous assets.

Why do they pose almost naked for magazines? Do they feel the need to let the world know that they're still hot (if they've posed post-baby)? Do they need the money? Attention seekers? Their publicist made them?

If they've done all their posing pre-kids, do they now regret it? Will they be embarrassed to tell and/or show their kids the magazine cover?

And not to say, we, as women and mums, should be ashamed of our bodies, but does that mean we should put it all out there for the world to see? I say 'we' like I'm going to be posing naked on a cover, but my grown kids (and my younger ones) would probably be mortified. Plus, Vanity Fair hasn't called.

Britney Spears – pre-baby, pregnant and post-kids, although lately, she's been keeping it covered (yay!). Spears posed on the October 2003 issue of Rolling Stone, August '06 issue of Bazaar and the 2007 September issue of Allure.

Christina Aguilera has done her fair share of nude-ish covers. She posed way back in 2002 on Rolling Stone, March 2007 saw her on the cover of Maxim, July 2007 she appeared on Ralph and did the pregnancy pose for Marie Claire in January of 2008.

Jennifer Lopez has shown off her assets on Entertainment Weekly's October 1998 cover, September '01 issue of Stuff and GQ's December 2002. All of hers were before twins Max and Emme. Will she pose nude again? Time will tell!

Heidi Klum took it off for Esquire twice – once in 2001 and next for the September 2006 cover. And she appeared sans clothes on the cover of Jane in August 2006. And since Klum is a Victoria's Secret Angel, she's no stranger to prancing around in skimpy lingerie. Seal must love that!
