One way or the other, Mariah and Nick will have a baby by New Year’s Eve, either by birth or adoption.

According to ShowbizSpy, an inside source claims that Mariah will either be pregnant in two months, or else adoption-bound. Say the insider:

“If they don’t conceive naturally, then Mariah and Nick are ready to adopt.

“They have lined up several potential adoption agencies. They’ve also looked up baby profiles online, and Mariah is completely enamored with two mix-raced baby girls and one cute-as-a-button boy boy as adoption possibilities.

“Mariah would love to experience pregnancy, but she and nick aren’t hung up on having a biological child.”

By no means is this the first time we’ve heard baby rumours from the couple, but this is the first time we’ve got a specific deadline, which is kinda interesting (if for no other reason than that it means the rumour can be officially proven to be officially bogus).

The couple have reportedly been trying for nearly a year to have a child, but don’t expect them to make an official announcement just yet. According to the insider, “Mariah is superstitious, and she doesn’t want to talk about the pregnancy until she’s a lot further along.”

I know, finally. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the two of them to finally give us all the details of their plan.

They told In Touch Weekly they are now ready to start a family.

How many kids?

Nick: We’d like two.

Mariah: Of course, we’d be happy with one. I want to be able to manage the right amount of attention. We are so busy — if you have six kids running around, no one gets what they need. Kids need a lot of attention.

Would you consider adoption?

Nick: It’s never out of the question. I was raised by my grandmother, who was also a foster mum, so I grew up around a lot of kids.

So you can see yourself having one by the end of 2010?

Mariah: Yeah. What do you think?

Nick: I think that’s what the world is waiting for.

Mariah: Oh, my goodness, that’s so much pressure on our kids!

Hmmm… Do you think she means it? Does she really want kids or is she too much of a narcissist to want to have the attention on anyone else?

Supposedly, Mariah is just dying to have a baby with Nick. Add to that the pressure of having a 28-year-old husband and a ticking biological clock, and you’ve got a recipe for major tension and stress.

“One recent night, Mariah woke up sobbing to Nick that she was so sorry she couldn’t give him a baby. He was an angel. He held her and promised they’d get through this together…

“She feels like she’s been hit by a truck. The bottom line is that she can’t handle the emotional trauma of any more false starts,” the insider adds.

After seeing her dream of motherhood crumble, Mariah and Nick agreed to adopt,” says the source, who calls the decision bittersweet “because Mariah had her heart set on having her own baby.”

“Nick told Mariah, ‘You’ll be a terrific mum. There are plenty of kids who need homes and we’ve got so much love to give. And who knows? Anything can happen. Maybe we’ll get lucky someday and have one of our own.”

The source claimed Mariah and Nick are already in the process of researching adoption agencies in the US.

You heard it right, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are going to be parents. Just not yet. The couple got married secretly last April on Carey’s private island estate in the Bahamas, and ever since the rumour mills have been churning away saying Mariah is preggers.

But Nick says his diva wife isn’t expecting…yet. He told E! News, “We’re definitely into planning a family and stuff but when everything calms down and we get the time. We’re just running and gunning now and enjoying being newlyweds.”

And great news! Nick, 29, says that he and Mariah might be doing “some comedy stuff together. You’ll see us this year doing some really funny stuff.”

Oh. Great. Because when I think comedy gold, Mariah is the first thing that pops into my head. Well, the second thing. Monkeys are always first.

Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon were hitting the slopes in Aspen over the weekend, looking as glam as you possibly can in ski gear. Mariah got a ski lesson and everything.

Page Six of the New York Post is saying that sources in St. Barts told the paper, "Carey is definitely pregnant." Mariah has been spotted coming out of an OBGYN's office in Los Angeles, holding "what looked like a sonogram and being greeted by her entourage with cheers."

Looks like we'll have yet another diva baby on planet Earth in 2009. I wonder if the baby will cry in 8 different octaves.

Mariah Carey has previously said she wouldn't get pregnant because she'd probably get fat and it could ruin her body.  Perhaps she's matured a bit and realises that, that statement is a bit ridiculous and really not a good reason not to have a child.  On a recent holiday to Mexico with her husband Nick Cannon, some suspicious behavior on the 38-year-old singer's part makes it seem like she could be pregnant….

1.) Look at what Mariah is wearing!  Seriously, she is over dressed – she never wears that much clothing, even in New York on a chilly January day.  She's normally dressed like a, uh, working girl on those same New York streets – perhaps she wants to be modest because…she's pregnant?

2.) She's holding her stomach.  Common thing to do, especially for first time moms, mesmerized by the wonderment of the miracle of carrying a baby, especially with the love of their life.  Mariah has often spoke of husband Nick, saying he's the one, he's the best thing ever to happen to her, they're soulmates….blah blah.  See?  She could be pregnant.

3.) While Nick drank a tropical frozen drink (probably with booze in it), Mariah did not drink any kind of tropical frozen drink.  Why?  Well, because it's best if preggos avoid alcohol, especially in their first trimester.  Hello?  Possibly pregnant!

4.) Mariah, at one time said she would share her pregnancy news with the world, but in a recent interview said if she were to become pregnant, she would keep the news to herself (and husband) for as long as she could before making an announcement.  Maybe they went away to celebrate their news together, away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.  Um, so that didn't quite work out so much, but still – they're celebrating because they're expecting!  (Maybe).

5.) Said Carey, "I've changed my mind [about having kids] because I am with The One. I think we would make good parents, and that we'd be able to figure everything out together. People are constantly asking me if I'm pregnant, but I don't like to talk about it too much. I just think about it as the next phase. We'll see."

You'll remember I told you this when they do make their announcement.  Sure, I didn't take my medication this morning, but that's besides the point.  Let me be the first to congratulate the happy couple!  *Wink*
